heap of coins close upLooking to save and give, all at the same time? We know it can sometimes seem impossible to NOT break the bank when holiday gift giving is concerned, but we’ve got some great tips here to help you stay on track! Here’s the first part of the list…make sure to check back in a few days for tips 5-9!

1. This may seem like a no-brainer BUT, before you start any shopping or spending, KNOW YOUR BUDGET! If you know what you can spend before you start shopping then you’ll have an easier time staying within your means.

2. KEEP TRACK OF WHAT YOU SPEND. Be it an old fashioned ‘pen and paper’ list that you keep in your purse or a digital list on your smart phone – that way you’ll always know exactly where you’re at money wise as well as whom you’ve already purchased gifts for.

3. DEBIT…NOT CREDIT. If you use your debit card – as opposed to whipping out a credit card for every purchase – you’ll be spending the money you already have, which helps keep you from overspending AND saves you from all those pesky interest charges.

4. MAKE A DETAILED LIST of who you want to buy for, how much you want to spend, and what you’d like to buy. Then, stick to it!

Remember…make a list, check it twice…then don’t stray from it!
